Alexandria's Weekly Creative Hub 


Core Goal: Many local artists (visual, performing, and craft) lack consistent, accessible platforms to showcase, sell, and gain exposure for their work within Alexandria. This project provides a dedicated, recurring space in a central location, fostering a vibrant artistic community and making diverse art forms accessible to the public. It also helps artists directly engage with audiences and generate income.


Target Community: Alexandrian handmade artists, painters, sculptors, musicians, theatre groups, stand-up comedians, other performing artists, and the wider public seeking cultural engagement and unique experiences.


Key Activities:

  • Transforming Arkan's space every Saturday into a dynamic art market and performance venue.
  • Providing "kiosk-like" spaces for visual artists and craftspeople to display and sell their work.
  • Offering an adjacent wider area for performing artists (music, theatre, stand-up, poetry, etc.) to showcase their talents.
  • Curating a diverse weekly program of artistic presentations.
  • Promoting the event to attract both artists and the public.
  • Facilitating direct sales and interaction between artists and attendees.


Potential Intern Roles:

This project offers a highly dynamic environment for interns, focusing on event management, artist relations, and public engagement.

  • Event Coordination & Logistics:
    • Assisting with the setup and breakdown of the weekly art spaces and performance areas.
    • Helping manage artist check-in and booth assignments.
    • Ensuring smooth flow of visitors and performances.
    • Coordinating technical requirements for performing artists (sound, basic lighting).
  • Artist Relations & Support:
    • Communicating with participating artists regarding schedules, requirements, and logistics.
    • Assisting artists with displaying their work or preparing for performances.
    • Gathering feedback from artists to improve the experience.
  • Visitor Engagement & Promotion:
    • Greeting attendees and providing information about the event and artists.
    • Distributing promotional materials in and around Mansheya Square.
    • Capturing photos and videos of the event for social media.
    • Assisting with live social media updates during the event.
  • Program Curation Support:
    • Researching local artists and performers suitable for the event.
    • Assisting with scheduling and booking performances.
    • Helping develop the weekly program lineup.
